1.Pacific Husky Pair pet grooming gloves – we can’t say enough about this product. The horses seem to love the massaging feel of these. Great for shedding season but also a really nice grooming tool for both you and your horse.
2. Mane ‘n Tail Combo Deal Shampoo and Conditioner – tried and tested all time favorite of equestrians. It’s our go to set for most of us at our barn. Large bottles and good value for money. Even humans use it and love it!
3. Animal Legends Flicks Essential Oil Horse Spray – fly spray This is my personal favorite. It is not always easy to find in the stores but I prefer this to any other horse fly spray out there. It works for both myself and my horses, it smells heavenly, and it’s a healthier option. I find it really works well and having used lots of brands of fly spray, I think it’s the best and go out of my way to have it on hand at all times. It’s not cheap but is equal in price to the more expensive brands with better results.
4. KBF99 Dandy brush – I have a blog dedicated to the KBF99 grooming kit brand. It is the one and only grooming kit I use now. Unfortunately Amazon don’t have the full range of grooming kit but they have the basics. There are no reviews but if you check out my blog about the only grooming kit you will ever need you will discover why KBF99 products are so amazing.
5. KBF99 Body Brush- see above
6. KBF99 Bucket Brush – see above AND I love this product, proven to kill diseases like ecoli!
7. KBF99 Mane Comb – see above
8. KBF99 Face Brush – see above
9. KBF99 Mane and Tail brush – I couldn’t find this product on Amazon but get it to complete your set if you can. If you can’t find one I also have three of these… ( I have a few horses LOL)
10. Tough 1 Great Grip Mane and Tail Brush – strong, durable and I like the feel of using them. The KBF99 has the same design which is probably why I like this one too.
11. Vet self adhesive vet wrap assorted colors 10 pack– this one is great value and you can never have enough vet wrap!
12. Grooms Hand Thrush Solution – This is my new fav’ for thrush treatment. I LOVE IT! It has a really clever and practical design with a built in hoof pick that works really well! The spray is quiet. Use gloves to apply. The product is really effective and has cleared up mild thrush at our barn in just a couple of applications.
13. Jolly Pets 10-inch Horse Jolly Ball, Apple scented – every horse needs one, apple scented or not! My stallion plays with his all the time! A great product to keep your horse entertained inside or out. Our horses love the apple scent!
14. Farm Innovators Modl H-419 Ice Chaser for heating water troughs. In Canada we need these. We have used numerous different models of trough heaters and to be honest none of them last more than 2 or 3 years, this one will likely have the same life span, we have had it two years so far. It has a three year warranty. I can’t say I can comment on the life span, it would be nice if it lasts a while, but as I said, none of the models we have used do. This particular model gives off lots of heat so is able to cope with the really cold temperatures. It’s a great product and is highly recommended.
15. Absorbine Veterinary Liniment – we always keep this on hand! Great for a warm water and liniment sponge down after a hard work. Great for those aches and pains for people too, just add it to your bath and relax.
16. Weaver Leather Silvertip #95 Rope Halter with 12 foot lead rope – my number one training tool, the rope halter and 12 lead rope with the leather ends. Weaver is a good starter halter that will last you for years. This halter and rope is a must for all your groundwork exercises.
17. Effax Leather Balm 500ml – I’ve used lots of great leather soaps and I started using this one last year. It is definitely my favourite of all of them as it really moisturizes your tack. I’m a tack cleaning freak so how my tack feels is really important to me. If you like soft, well cared for tack, this is the soap for you!
18. Tough 1 Ice Boot – most of my boarders and students keep these in their freezer for emergency use at all times. I have four but you really only need to have one or two. It’s so important to be able to reduce swelling, or avoid swelling after a strenuous work out. I cannot emphasize how important it is to have these on hand at all times when you own a horse.
19. Kevin Bacon’s Hoof Dressing Original 5 is our favorite hoof treatment. Its all natural ingredients and is perfect for inconsistent climates. This is a bigger container, however, it is worth purchasing over the smaller tubs as it saves money. The original is a paste, if you prefer more of a traditional oil look they also do an oil with brush.
- Fiebings Neatsfoot Pure Oil – Quart. I regularly soak my tack in warmed Neatsfoot oil to keep it supple. This product has stood the test of time as being a quality oil for leather. It restores and softens and works wonders on old and new leather. I warm a whole container in a large saucepan, then remove from heat and pore in a large bowl. I then place my bridle pieces in the bowl, making sure they are all immersed, then I leave it over night. The next day I remove them, place the pieces on a towel and wipe them down. You will have amazing tack!
